Abstract Obesity is a common and often neglected health problem with high economic and health consequences. Obesity, which is now considered as a disease can be easily prevented which otherwise can impact the lives of people of all age groups. Obesity is associated with increased risk of illness, disability, and death. Last decade has witnessed a striking increase in obesity prevalence. It is an easily preventable and treatable health problem which is increasing at an alarming rate in the society now and currently an important health issue.
