Abstract The study Objective is To assess Nurse's Awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder in pediatric wards at Kirkuk Public Hospitals, To describe the socio-demographic characteristics of nurses who work in pediatric wards, To assess the nurses awareness level about information, concepts and facts about autism spectrum disorder, To find out the relationship between Nurses awareness level about Autism Spectrum Disorder and some related variables such as (age, gender, number of autistic child that he or she provides care for them). Quantitative design descriptive study was used to assess of nurses awareness who work in pediatric ward about Autism Spectrum Disorder at Public Hospitals in Kirkuk city, from Jun 20 to 10 September 2016. The findings in general indicated that nurses level of awareness in all items related to all three domains (information, concepts and facts about autism spectrum disorders), (social interaction and communication in children with autism) and (disorder in behavioral patterns) were in poor level and recorded low total mean of scores (16.5 ± 3.6), (16.7 ± 3.8), and (16.4 ± 4.0) respectively. The findings of the study researcher recommend to construct an educational program about this important issue to enhance nurses level of awareness and information.
