Online published on 30 April, 2019. Abstract Determination of tariffs in health services is very instrumental in influencing demand from low and high income groups. The aim of the study was to find out the level of ability and willingness to pay general patients hospitalization in the Pangkep District Hospital. This research is a quantitative research with descriptive method with a sample of 87 people taken by means of quota sampling technique and analyzed using univariate analysis. The results showed that 38 respondents (43.7%) agreed that the highest ability to pay based on willingness to pay ATP 1 was <Rp. 15, 000, 000 while 2 respondents (2.3%) settled for the minimum rate of ≥ Rp. 60, 000, 000. While ATP 2 showed that the ability to pay based on expenditure for the largest non-food was Rp.100, 000-Rp.500, 000 as supported by 68 respondents (78.2%) are in class III and the smallest Rp.1, 000.001-Rp.1, 500, 000 were 4 respondents (4.6%) were in the VIP class, the largest non-essential expenditure <Rp.150, 000 as many as 36 respondents (41.4%) were in class III while the lowest was Rp.3, 500, 000-Rp.4, 500, 000 as much as 2 respondents (2.3%) were in the VIP class. 57 respondents (65.5%) said that the hospital rate is non-reasonable whereas and as many as 30 respondents (34.5%) said it were affordable rates. The conclusion of this study showed that the ability and willingness to pay the community was in accordance with their respective classes.
