This is as a result of “Tolerance to self-antigens” which is acquired by varied mechanisms. Failure in immune recognition of self and injury to self-tissues (autoimmunity) results from a loss of self-tolerance. This article will discuss the mechanisms of self-tolerance and the break down mechanism in autoimmunity. Top Keywords Autoimmune, antigen, self tolerance, rejection, immune recognition. Top |
