Abstract Early diagnosis of eye diseases in pediatric population is of utmost importance, since many of them are potential enough to cause permanent visual impairment. Among them specific disease like cataract, subluxated lens, corneal disorder, phacomatosis, high refractive error, squint etc can be associated with other systemic involvement. An array of ocular manifestations of hyperthyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, diabetes mellitus, porphyria, cystinosis, mucopolysaccharidosis, Wilson disease, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, Marfan s syndrome, Weill-Marchesani syndrome, down's syndrome are described. On contrary, ocular examination provides significant information for the diagnosis and monitoring of systemic disease. In an eye, micro circulatory system can be visualized directly and investigated with precision; neural tissue can be evaluated easily; and the results of minute focal lesions are so prominent that is unmatched with any other body part.
