Abstract

A randomized controlled trial was used in this study, which was conducted at Al Hussein Medical City in Karbala. A random sample consisting of (80) nursing staff and males was selected. This sample was divided into two groups: the study group consisted of (40) nurses and a control group consisting of (40) nurses. A self-administration questionnaire was used for data collection and consisted of four parts: (a) demographic and social characteristics, (B) general health information; (c) identifcation of smoking behavior; and (d) measure of self-examination of test scores. The results of this study showed that there were signifcant differences between all concepts of the model of health beliefs related to tests of testicles (perceived readiness, perceived risk, perceived benefts, perceived obstacles, signs of doing work and self-effcacy) in all tests. In addition, there was a signifcant correlation between the perceived risk of testicular cancer and the perceived risk of testicular cancer in all tests. This study concluded that health education based on the model of health beliefs was effective in improving all the key concepts of the model of health beliefs.
