A Comparative Study on Stigma toward Disability in Koreans Kim Mi Jin Dept. of Nursing Science, Daejeon Institute of Science and Technology, Daejeon-35408, Korea Online published on 14 May, 2018. Abstract This study was conducted to investigate the stigma of parents who raise children with disabilities in Korean society. Also, the purpose of this study explores the degree of stigma of parents who raise children with disabilities and compare them with those of ordinary people. The statistical analysis results of the questionnaire that was conducted on a total of 283. The results of the study are as follows. There were 283 participants in the study. Parents who raise children with disabilities are 96. And there were 187 nursing students as general subjects. The mean of total stigma for the disabled was 80.32. The mean of stigma parents who raise children with disabilities was 90.81, the mean of stigma nursing students was 74.93. The mean analysis of the two groups showed significant difference and the parents group was higher (t=-6.378, p=.000). Therefore, nursing interventions should be provided to reduce the high level of stigma experienced by parents with a child with a disability.
