Abstract Background/Objectives The major goal of this research is to examine the influence of problem solving counselling program on the self-esteem and developing social skills for institutionalized children. Along with the ease of negative aspects of institutionally reared children, it is expected to have better interactions in human relationships.. Method/Statistical Analysis For the experiment group and the controlled group, matching sample t-test was conducted after the pretest and posttest with scales of self-esteem and developing social skills. Statistical process was analyzed using SPSS program(ver.22). Findings problem solving focused counselling program was found to have a significant effect on selfesteem and developing social skills for the experiment group, and face-to-face talk and problem solving counselling program are reported to have a very significant effect on participants.. Improvements/Applications There is a need to continue efforts to develop and examine suitable programs for institutionalized children to make the research act as an expert role in helping improve them as socially accepted adults with a sound mind.
