Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationship between authentic leadership, organizational communication, psychological capital and occupational stress, and to determine the mediating effect of organizational communication and psychological capital. For this purpose, 357 workers from three cities in Chungnam-do were purposefully sampled and surveyed. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, CFA, and a structural equation model. The results are as follow. First, there was a significant positive correlation between authentic leadership, organizational communication, and psychological capital. And these three items were negatively correlated with job stress. Second, as a result of bootstrapping, organizational communication was found to have a mediating effect on the relationship between authentic leadership and psychological capital and psychological capital in the relationship between organizational communication and job stress. The results of the study suggest that in order to reduce the job stress of the worker, authentic leadership should be used to stimulate organizational communication and as a basis for an effort to create psychological capital.
