Abstract

The aim of the present study is to explore the role of polychronicity in the context of anxiety among young adults. Polychronicity is defined as a construct in terms of the extent to which people prefer to be engaged in two or more tasks or events simultaneously. Anxiety is a term frequently used to encompass feelings of apprehension, unease or correspondingly unpleasant emotions. For the above purpose, the sample of 180 female adults (Mean age = 21 yrs) and 180 male adults (Mean age= 21.5 yrs) were taken up from the tricity of Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. ‘Index of Polychronic Values Scale’ and IPATAnxiety Questionnaire were used for the study. To arrive at the results, t-ratios were computed. Results showed that the high polychronic young adults have low levels of anxiety than low polychronic young adults irrespective of gender groups.
