Abstract The present study was conducted on the effect of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) on reduction of depression and Dysfunctional attitudes of divorced women in Tehran. Methodology It was an experimental study with pre-test-post-test design and control group. The population consists (100) individuals who answered the depression and dysfunctional attitudes questionnaires and 20 samples were chosen based on random sampling method and were randomly divided into 2 groups (experimental and control).Both groups answered the questionnaires before the starting the process and in the last session as well. For the experimental group a MBCT was implemented in 8 sessions, while the control group did not receive any interference. Data were analysed by use of T dependent test. Findings The results (P <0.05) indicate that MBCT is significantly effective on reduction of depression symptoms and dysfunctional attitudes. Conclusion The findings indicate that MBCT is effective on reduction of depression and dysfunctional attitudes of divorced women and these results can be used in clinical and treatment interferences.
