Abstract This study was conducted to compare the self-concept, anxiety and social phobia of LD students and normal elementary school students. This is an ex post facto research (causal-comparative). The population includes 140 students, chosen from the elementary school Babolsar city (70 students were LD and 70 students were normal). Research samples answered to two tests of Piers-Harris Children's Self-concept and Spence children's anxiety which have the validity and reliability. The single-sample t-test for analysing data and two-sample t-test (independent t) for comparing the means of two communities are used. Like most of the results of previous research, findings of the present research suggests that there is a significant difference between self-concept and anxiety of LD and normal students. In other words, the self-concept of LD students is lesser than normal students and their anxiety is more than normal students. Meanwhile, there was not found a significant difference between social phobia of the two LD and normal groups. Also, it was not observed a significant difference among the self-concept, anxiety and social phobia of LD and normal girl and boy students.
