ABSTRACT The present study is an attempt towards assessing the extent of shyness among caregivers of psychotics like schizophrenia, mania, depression, bipolar disorders and postpartum psychosis along with findings association between shyness levels and demographic factors including age, domicile, diagnosis, gender and educational qualification. The study assessed shyness of the caregivers using SSQ (shyness subtypes questionnaire) developed by Sedighe, & D’Souza, (2011). To analyse the data chi-square and Cramer’s V tests were employed. Majority of the sample expressed moderate to high levels of shyness to an extent of 60%. Caregivers in the younger age groups were shyer than caregivers in older age groups.Caregivers from urban areas expressed more help seeking behaviour than care givers from rural areas. Type of disorder, gender, domicile and educational level of the caregivers did not have significant influence shyness of the caregivers. Top Key Words: Shyness, Caregiving, Psychotic Patients. Top |
