ABSTRACT:

The aim of the present study was to examine the cognitive behavior therapy on mathematics anxiety in high school students. The research method was a semi experimental design with pretest-posttest. For this purpose, forty students were selected in Ahvaz city, through purposive-volunteer sampling and randomly allocated two groups: experimental group (n=20) and control (n=20), provided complete data for analysis. Pre- and post-intervention (8 sessions lasting 4 weeks, control participants only attended the pre-post sessions) self-report measures of mathematics anxiety, were completed. Statistical analysis by multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) showed that experimental group reported significantly reduced levels of mathematics anxiety (p≢001, F=15.38).In general, according to findings of study, it is suggested that cognitive behavior therapy is important psychological factors to reduce the level of mathematics anxiety.
