The effectiveness of Cognitive Behavior Therapy on Reducing Mathematics Anxiety Baghmalek Ayatollah Karimi1, Assistant professor, Mahigir Foroogh2, Assistant professor 1department of Counseling and psychology, Farhangian University, Tehran, Iran 2department of Counseling and psychology, Farhangian University, Tehran, Iran ABSTRACT: The aim of the present study was to examine the cognitive behavior therapy on mathematics anxiety in high school students. The research method was a semi experimental design with pretest-posttest. For this purpose, forty students were selected in Ahvaz city, through purposive-volunteer sampling and randomly allocated two groups: experimental group (n=20) and control (n=20), provided complete data for analysis. Pre- and post-intervention (8 sessions lasting 4 weeks, control participants only attended the pre-post sessions) self-report measures of mathematics anxiety, were completed. Statistical analysis by multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) showed that experimental group reported significantly reduced levels of mathematics anxiety (p≢001, F=15.38).In general, according to findings of study, it is suggested that cognitive behavior therapy is important psychological factors to reduce the level of mathematics anxiety.
