Abstract

An experiment was conducted to study the genetic parameters in two lines viz., growth and feed efficiency line of Red Comish which were under selection for their respective traits, since 10 generations. Overall, growth line showed superiority over feed efficiency line with respect to body weight at different stages. Conformation traits viz. shank, keel bone length and breast angle were found more or less similar in both the sexes of growth and feed efficiency line. The weight gain and feed efficiency measured during 5–8 week showed superiority of feed efficiency line over growth line. In both the lines, females showed superiority over males. The heritability of all the traits studied were low to modetate in magnitude.
