Abstract

In all 48 E. coli and five Salmonella from diarrhoeic poultry were studied for antimicrobial susceptibility by using 13 different antimicrobials. Interestingly, 87.5% ofE. coli strains were resistant to a range of two to eight antimicrobials. Resistance to ampicillin and co-trimoxazole was even more than 79% whereas all the strains were sensitive to nalidixic acid and rifampicin; so far being rarely used in poultry diseases.
