Abstract

An experiment was carried out on 128 broiler chicks during the months of February and March 1999 to study the influelice of restricted feeding on their performance from 1 to 42 days of age. Reduction in feeding hours (50%) was applied by of fering the feed daily from 7 AM to 7 PM only. Due to restricted feeding there was an adverse effect (p<0.05) on feed consumption and weight gain but feed conversion efficiency remained unaffected. A reduction (p<0.05) in mortality was recorded in treatment group than the control one. It was concluded that mortality due to various factors (ascities & sudden death syndrome) could be reduced by reducing feeding hours during winter season.
