Abstract

The Small and Medium Enterprises’ (hereinafter referred to as SMEs) sector in India is a well recognized contributor in the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) thereby plays an important role in the overall and inclusive growth of the economy. A large number of SME units are promoted and run by entrepreneurs having their debut in the market place. They face many problems and they find their solutions and do business. At many occasions, some entrepreneurs have to go for closure of their business when their problems don't find a solution. This closure of these units affects the growth of GDP and economy. This results in loss of revenue, production and employment. Through this work, it has been shown how the problems of entrepreneurs can find solutions. Training of entrepreneurs can provide all the possible answers and solutions to the problems of aspiring as well as existing entrepreneurs. As India is having no established training infrastructure for entrepreneurship training, it has been deliberated through this work as to how the training infrastructure can be build up. The attribution of all their problems has been attached to their poor knowledge and experience. The proper training programmes can fill this gap by providing the relevant and updated information to the entrepreneurs. It has been found that the causes of SME sickness lie in the mismanaged entrepreneurships. Hence, it becomes important to equip the entrepreneurs with management skills which can be achieved by Entrepreneurs’ Training Programs (ETPs). The role of District Industries Centers (DICs) has been put under light as to their relevance in the training of entrepreneurs. It has been correlated that the level of entrepreneurship training and awareness has a direct bearing on the level of profitability of entrepreneurs.
