Abstract To analyse the functioning of various departments of DIET's in Karnataka state, 16 DIET's were selected for the study and the researcher collected the data by using the questionnaire as a tool prepared separately with respect to the functioning of the seven departments of the DIET's. The data was analysed with reference to the objectives and hypotheses by using Normal Probability Curve approach by computing the Z-scores to determine the performance level. Davanagere DIET had good performance towards educational leadership management and planning, comparatively to least performance towards educational leadership management and planning was seen in Dharwad DIET. But Mysore and Gulbarga DIET's have average performance towards educational leadership management and planning. Davanagere DIET had good performance on teacher education as compared to least performance towards teacher education was seen in Mandya DIET. But other DIET's have average performance towards teacher education. Shivamogga and Hassan DIET had good performance in language department as compared to Chikkamagalur DIET which has seen least performance. But other DIET's have average performance in department of language. Chikkmagalur DIET had good performance on the department of mathematics and science comparatively least performance was seen in Mandya DIET. But other DIET's have average scores on the department of mathematics and science. Ballari & Raichur DIET had good performance in humanity department as compared Shivamogga and Haveri DIET's. But other DIETs have average performance in humanity department. Gulbarga DIET had good performance in pre-service teacher education as compared to Tumkur DIET. But other DIETs have average scores pre-service teacher education. Shivamogga DIET had good performance on local needs as compared to least performance on local needs was seen in Belgaum DIET. But other DIETs have average scores on the department of local needs.
