Transcriptional profiling of GDF9 and ITS Signaling receptors in goat granulosa and theca cells

Abstract

A study was conducted to summarize the transcriptional profiling of GDF9 gene and its receptors in goat granulosa and theca cells. In the characterisation of the transcriptional profiling of GDF9 and BMP receptors (BMPRs), it was observed that all the GDF9 genes and BMP receptors such as BMPR-II, BMPR-IA and BMPR-IB were expressed in both granulosa and theca cells extracted from antral follicles of various diameters. Significantly (P<0.05) lower transcripts of GDF9 mRNA in granulosa and theca cells were expressed from the large antral follicles whereas the BMPRs expression increased with increase in follicular size. The study suggested that GDF9 enhances proliferation of granulosa and theca cells with the help of BMPRs and also synthesised DNAcontent in granulosa and theca cells.
