Practical and Court Oriented legal education in India-Some views

Abstract

The legal education at the college level is the super structure of the administration of justice. If that fails at the college level, undoubtedly the whole administration of justice would be affected. Legal sphere is undergoing a sea change due to existing interaction of domestic legal mechanism with foreign legal systems and hence there is a increased burdens on the law schools and they have to brace themselves up to meet this dynamic scenario. The system is based on professionalism of its personal and the law schools have to aim at inculcating this professionalism among its pupil. It is said eternal vigilance is the price of democracy and hence importance of people participation in it cannot be over emphasized. Here the law schools also have role in ensuring this and therefore the law schools have to aim at developing public participation at all societal levels in addition to imparting legal education to pupil. As per the Bar Council of India recommendation it is high time that the law schools re organize LL.B courses on a more practical and court oriented methods. Further the legal education in India to a large extent is untouched by Indian innovation and dwells largely on colonial twilight and research here is not truly depicting the Indian picture and hence there is a need to screen indigenous civilization system which can be used to revitalize Indian legal system. The paper herein discusses all these things and the ways in which the Indian legal education can be reformulated to meet the present day needs.
