Online Published on 20 May, 2023. Abstract The present study was performed in 7 dogs with femur fractures, which were stabilized by using String of Pearls (SOP) locking plate system. In dogs with <10 kg body weight, 2.7 mm SOP plates and in dogs >10 kg body weight, 3.5 mm SOP plates were used. The SOP plate was contoured to the surface of the bone before application. The bone healing was evaluated by clinical and radiographic evaluation made at regular intervals. Average of lameness grade was 3.14±0.34, 2.0±1.0 and 1.5±0.5 at 14th, 30th, and 60th postoperative day, respectively. The average grade of radiographic healing on 90th day was 1.25±0.25. The functional outcome was excellent in 3/7 cases, and it was good (3/7) or fair in remaining cases. It can be concluded that the femur fracture in dogs can be managed by string of pearls (SOP) locking plates successfully with good functional recovery.
