Abstract

Four Pug dogs were diagnosed suffering with Malassezia otitis. Clinical examination revealed pruritus over the ears, thickened ears and yeasty odour. Malassezia sp. organisms were identified on tape impression smears collected from ears. Confirmation was done by organism isolation on SDA and found sensitive to Clotrimazole and Ketoconazole. Dogs were treated with otic drops containing Ofloxacin, Clotrimazole, Betamethasone along with supportive therapy. Dogs recovered completely from otitis after 12-20 days treatment.
