There was sub total loss of nasal, incisive and maxilla bones. Animal was in shock and suffering from severe respiratory distress with open mouth breathing. Emergency tracheostomy was performed to save life of animal and reconstructive maxillary surgery was undertaken. Immediately after surgery, there was 95% of normal alignment and animal was able to respire partially through nostrils and partially through tracheostomy wound. Subsequent suturing after suture dehiscence resulted in slight deviation of rostral part of face. The healing of hard palate was normal and animal was able to improve on feed intake. After establishment of nasal respiration, tracheostomy wound was closed. The animal recovered without any further complications. Top Keywords Maxilla, reconstruction, tracheostomy, trauma. Top |
