Online published on 20 November, 2017. Abstract An ovine herd from suburban areas of Parbhani reported with complaints of lameness, fever and anorexia with history of abortions. Serological evaluation was undertaken for brucellosis, suspecting its prevalence in the herd. Shepherd was strictly advised to cull 22 ewes since they were exhibiting the agglutination titte >160 IU for Brucella abortus. The remaining doubtful ewes were advised Doxycycline (500 mg twice a day orally) for four weeks. Neither shepherd reported any death nor antibody titre was observed in treated animals. Hence, strategically the brucellosis infection in Ovine herd was controlled with minimum economical losses. Top Keywords Brucellosis, ovine. Top | |
