Online published on 18 April, 2018. Abstract A cow was presented with mild regurgitation, loss of appetite for last two months, passing scanty feaces since eight days, uneasiness and drop in milk yield since one month. The condition of animal was poor, dull and depressed with rectal temperature 100°C, subnormal heart rate and respiration. On abdominal palpation, it was hard, impacted and appeared bulged. The average reticulo-ruminal motility was less than 1 in 3 per minutes. Per rectal examination revealed hard touch of rumen and hence the case was suspected of non-penetrating foreign body syndrome. Rumenotomy was performed with standard procedure and 53 kgs of polythenes from rumen were retrieved along with penetrating material like nails, tar, pins, sharp blade, needle and non penetrating materials like coin, stones, ring and chain. Fresh rumen liquor was given for five days regularly and animal showed uneventful recovery. Top Keywords Cow, Non-Penetrating material, rumenotomy, surgery. Top |
