Online Published on 20 April, 2022. Abstract A pregnant ewe was presented with decreased feed intake for last 2–3 days, dullness and weakness. Physiological parameters were found within the normal range. Further, Beta Hydroxy Butarate (BHB) level was 1.1 mmol/lit. (Normal <0.8 mmol/lit. So the case was diagnosed as sub-clinical ketosis and treatment was initiated with 10% Glucose solution @ 150 ml i/v and Vitamin B complex. The owner was advised to drench Gluconeogenic precursor with Nicotinamide @ 50 ml orally bid for first two days followed by 25 ml orally once for next two days. The ewe showed drastic improvement and started taking food and water. BHB level in blood was also reduced to 0.6 mmol/l. Top Keywords Ewe, Gluconeogenic precursor, Pregnancy toxaemia. Top |
