Abstract Out of major 27 orders of birds, having 8700 species of which, Passeriformes (finches, sparrows, mynah and perching birds) and Psittaciformes (Parakeets, parrots, cockatoos, macaws and lorikeets) are commonly preferred as companion birds by most pet lovers. Feeding pet birds, the right food is important for their growth and health in captivity. A balanced diet based on sound bird nutrition recommendations for them. Balancing parrot's diet will prevent many health and behavior problems. Malnutrition is a preventable human-made disease observed in most cases of diseases in pet birds.
