Abstract

Rural economy today is an effective mix of agricultural and animal husbandry. The livestock sector has played a major role and is likely to play a greater role in any future revolution benefiting rural economy. Any type of disease conditions, metabolic diseases, infectious and non-infectious diseases are always threatening to the farmers. Because of these disease conditions, huge economic losses are recorded and ultimately farmers and rural economy get disturbed. Correct and accurate diagnosis of disease conditions near to the farms of farmers, good managemental practices and timely Veterinary services, save lives of costly livestock and prevent economic losses. Fear of losing the costly animals was found to be reduced due to availability of various laboratory tests and diagnostic post-mortem examinations services. Establishment of Veterinary diagnostic laboratories in rural areas definitely increases the faith in health assurance of the animals and this makes farmers and Veterinarians more confident in their routine works. Simple data from grocery shop keepers to the nationalized banks highlights that rural farmers are becoming self-sustained. For boosting the self-confidence and sustainable rearing of various types of livestock; good managemental practices, appropriate farming technologies, proper Veterinary diagnostic services and Veterinary aids play an important role and ultimately strengthens the Indian rural economy.
