Abstract

Five On- farm trials to study the responses of wheat to Potassium application were conducted at farmers field in villages of district Sonepat, Haryana during the year 2003–2004. The treatments consisted of 0, 30, 60, 90, and 120 kg Potassium/ha through MOP. N and P were applied as per recommendations i.e. 150 kg and 60 kg/ha, respectively. The average grain yield of wheat increased significantly with the application of K at 30, 60, 90 and 120 kg K/ha over control i.e. no K application. The percent increase in the average grain yield of wheat with 30, 60, 90 and 120 Kg K/ha over control was 8.24, 13.9, 18.32 and 21.2 percent, respectively. The mean agronomic efficiency of applied K was 12.4, 10.5, 9.2, and 8.0 at 30, 60, 90, and 120 kg K/ha, respectively. The mean benefit cost ratio was higher at lower level of K application. The mean crude protein content of wheat also increased with the increased level of K application.
