Abstract

This work was designed to study the effect of different types of mandibular fractures in 20 camels on some blood and biochemicals parameters. The age, sex, breed and clinical signs were recorded and the fracture type was determined by radiograph. Camels with fractured mandible showed significant increase (P < 0.0001) in WBCs, granulocytes%, AST, ALT and creatinine concentrations as well as highly significant decrease in haemoglobin (P < 0.0001), lymphocyte%, and albumin. Females of the same group showed a significant decrease (P < 0.05) in packed cell volume (PCV). It could be concluded that mandibular fractures in camels have a direct impact on the haematological and biochemical parameters of the blood.
