Abstract Ethnic women specifically the Manipuri is one of the most marginalized groups in Bangladesh. Ethnicity, gender, religion, and class are the factors acting together towards their marginalization. Literally, Manipuri people are highly conscious about their family pattern as this ethnic community always trying to keep their family very small from generation to generation. Despite of this norm, it is revealed that some socio-demographic indicators have significant relationship with the contraceptive use of Manipuri women. In Bi-variate analysis the Chi-square test displayed that number of children; electronic devices and age at marriage were significantly associated with contraceptive use. Two or more than two children bearing women had highest contraceptive use. Respondents possessed with more electronic medium of communication used contraceptive to the fullest extent. On the other hand, women who got married at younger age experienced contraceptive the most indicating that they wanted more time to develop their socio-economic status and did not want baby at that cycle.
