Abstract Information needs related to immunization/vaccination, mother care nutrition of infant and young children, health and nutrition, and dietary aspects exists to a varying degree. However, the kind of information sources available in the villages does not cater to the needs of the villagers. Scope for harnessing the benefits of new web based and database technologies could be very well realized. Creation of a database with information related to the health and nutritional status of the people of the state would provide a handy tool to develop and implement appropriate and timely health interventions.
