Abstract

Gram is the third most important pulse crop of the world after dry bean and dry peas. Nutritionally gram for relatively lesser antinutritional factors, has a higher biological value, true digestibility and net protein utilization. Because of its higher fat content and better fibre digestibilit)l,-gram holds great promise as a protein and calories source for human. The study was conducted by selecting 50 male and 50 female gram growers who were actively involved in the gram cultivation to assess the intergender existing adoption and adoption gap of gram growers. The mean adoption score of the male respondents was 11.98, i.e., 39 per cent and adoption gap score was 21.27 i.e. 70.90 per cent. In case of female mean score regarding adoption was 7.18 which is equal to 23.14 per cent. Whereas they have adoption gap score 23.70 which is equal to 79.60 per cent. Further analysis revealed that mean adoption score of male was higher as compared to female in improved varieties, fertilizer application and plant protection. The difference was also statistically significant. Female adoption gas was higher than the male in improved varieties and fertilizer application. The difference was also significant at 0.01 level of significance.
