Abstract

Communication is a dynamic process that generates constructive interaction between individuals and societies. This article discusses the perspectives of communication for development as a defined field that has its own philosophy and theoretical basis. Communication for development starts from the idea of creating a more just, equitable and humane society, where the human being is not a simple object receiving messages but rather an active and dynamic being in personal and social construction. Therefore, it has a specific purpose and is based on values that favor the underprivileged, uninformed masses lacking education and opportunities to participate in social construction. This type of communication has a clear intention to benefit the rural and agricultural sectors and the masses living in marginalization. Therefore, it differs from the so-called neutral or impartial or adversarial communication of the political system to which the press and national and international television accustomed us. Its intention is to emit messages that motivate people to improve their personal, family and social condition in written, auditory or pictorial form. It is imbued with values that promote self-management and dynamic involvement in improving the quality of life.
