Abstract Sericulture is a marginal farmer’s cash crop, women friendly, continuous income generated, employment oriented and low capital invested agro-based activity. Out of four commercial type of sericulture cultivation, ericulture is a traditional occupation of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) people in Assam state. Many entrepreneurial opportunities are emerging in various fields including agriculture and sericulture. Ericulture is also one of the important activities in sericulture which needs an entrepreneurial role to boost up the eri production and productivity in India. Sixty (60) farmers from the three districts of BTC viz, Kokrajhar, Chirrang and Baksa in Assam state were selected purposively for the study. The salient findings of the study were around half of the respondents (44.00%) engaged in ericulture practices have high level of entrepreneurial behaviour, however 36.00 percent and 20.00 percent of the respondents possess medium and low level entrepreneurial qualities respectively. Education, land holding, economic motivation and market orientation contributes significantly to the entrepreneurial behavior of the ericulture farmers. Hence the programs like entrepreneurship development training, business approach model in eri cultivation and promotional activities of eri enterprise as profitable ventures would be encouraged to enhance not only the eri silk production but also the livelihood of eri farmers in Assam state of North Eastern India.
