Abstract

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has emerged as a pivotal tool to assess and benchmark higher learning organizations in India. This paper delves into the transformative influence of libraries on NIRF rankings, with a specific focus on agricultural universities. In a country where education plays a key role in national development, NIRF rankings serve as a comprehensive measure of an institution’s overall performance and impact. Agriculture universities, given their specialized focus, face unique challenges in meeting the diverse criteria set by the NIRF. This paper explores the central role played by libraries in addressing these challenges and propelling agricultural universities towards higher NIRF rankings. The paper underscores the vital role of libraries in shaping the NIRF rankings of agricultural universities in India. By addressing challenges related to research output, infrastructure, and industry collaboration, libraries emerge as transformative agents that propel these institutions towards higher echelons of academic excellence. Recognizing the collaboration between libraries and NIRF rankings acknowledges the quality of the framework and amenities, reflecting positively on an institution’s overall standing. NIRF rankings are essential for devising strategies that foster the holistic development of agricultural universities in India.
