Abstract

This study examined the influence of mobile phone usage on the study habits of undergraduates at Ekiti State University, an affiliated program to MOCPED in Lagos State, Nigeria. The researchers adopted a descriptive survey design. The population size of the study was 156 undergraduates in the 200-400 level. The findings established that undergraduates agree that mobile phone usage positively influences their study habits, with an overall mean of x= 2.83. They indicated that mobile phone usage enables them to connect to the internet, participate in e-classes, submit assignments, and even take examinations. They further revealed that undergraduates utilize mobile phones for studying due to their perceived usefulness (PU) x= 3.41 and perceived ease of use (PEOU) x= 2.93. The study concluded that the level of skill acquired and the knowledge acquired influence the use of mobile phones in the study habits of undergraduates. The study recommends that management should incorporate more new skills learning programs to further influence learning through the use of mobile phones, as technology is advancing daily enhancing learning and keeping up with the trends of the time. The study further recommends that undergraduates should also enroll in programs to acquire various technological skills through the usage of their mobile phones, as this will enhance their academic pursuits to be relevant to the trends of the time.
