Gender Variation in Use of Social Networks among Engineering College Students: A Case Study of JCT College of Engineering & Technology

Abstract

Information and communication technologies (ICTs) that facilitate communication with a group of people, helps to share their experience or discuss with people having similar interests is popularly known as social network. The social networks are influencing student's community also. This paper attempts to know how the male and female students of JCT College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, differ while using the social networks such as ‘Facebook’, ‘Twitter’, ‘Orkut’, ‘Linkedin’ and so on. The present study has selected only four previously mentioned social networking websites for the gender variation analysis.
