Abstract This paper is an attempt to find out the usage of mobile devices by LIS students for academic purpose in Central universities in Uttar Pradesh state in India. The findings of the study reveal that male students out number female students in mobile device use. Not significant numbers of students are using mobile devices for accessing academic information. Mobile devices are less used for accessing subscribed library resources. Poor network coverage and high charging data plans are the two most common problems faced by LIS students.
