It can develop when hyper plastic soft tissue replaces the alveolar bone and is commonly seen in the upper anterior region of long term denture wearers. The basic problem arises during impression making when forces cause distortion of the denture bearing tissues. This article describes the impression techniques that can be used to optimize the treatment of edentulous patients with flabby alveolar ridges.
