Abstract Aim Here, we present the rare case of a 24-year-old pregnant lady suffering from tubercular temporomandibular arthritis with associated parotitis and huge soft tissue component. Methods Our clinical findings were diagnosed using Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Results Tubercular aetiology was confirmed with micro-biological evaluation of fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) specimen. Conclusion Chronic monoarthritis of temporomandibular joint with adjacent soft tissue liquefied collection, may point out to possibility of tuberculosis. The ultimate diagnosis rests on laboratory studies of the acid fast bacilli (AFB). Top Keywords Temporomandibular joint, Tuberculosis, Parotitis, Magnetic resonance imaging. Top |
