Online published on 19 September, 2020. Abstract Fibro-osseous lesions are a diverse group of processes that are characterized by replacement of normal bone by flbrous tissue containing a newly formed mineralized product. Ossifying fibroma is a rare entity among the other type of fibro-osseous lesions. It is slow growing, well circumscribed benign tumor of bone that probably arises from the cells of the periodontal ligament. Earlier in 1992’s, WHO is considered and classified this type of lesion as ossifying fibroma and cementoossi fying fibroma. Now the term “cemento-ossifying fibroma” is replaced with “ossifying fibroma” in recent WHO classification (2005). These tumors are slow growing, painless and occur more commonly in the mandible and in the third and fourth decades of life with slight female predilection. A variant of ossifying fibroma is designated as Juvenile ossifying fibroma that appears in younger individuals. This tumor exhibits more aggressive behaviour and great propensity for recurrence. In the present case we hereby present aunusual case report a 20-year-old female patient reported with painless swelling in the lower right front tooth region since 1 month. On the basis of clinical examination, radiographically and histopathological evaluation done and it was confirmed as ossifying fibroma. Top Keywords Fibro-osseous lesions, Ossifying fibroma. Top |
