Abstract

Concept of achieving better treatment results, aesthetics and stability has ushered in the era of two phase orthodontic treatment in present days. This has changed the perception of an orthodontist in diagnosis and the initiation of orthodontic treatment. However there are specific indication and not all the cases can be treated with this modality. Purpose of Phase I therapy includes correction of obvious problems; intercepting the developing problems and prevent obvious problems from becoming worse. The purpose of Phase II orthodontic treatment is to correct the individual tooth positions precisely and maintain treatment objectives which were initiated in Phase-I treatment. Thus to conclude “catching them young and treating them specifically” is observed to be beneficial in two phase orthodontics
