Abstract

The treatment of edentulous patient with a severely resorbed ridge is a challenge for the prosthodontist. In edentulous patients, reduction of the residual ridges (RRR) is one of the most important factors affecting denture support, retention and stability which compromise the masticatory function. The aetiology for residual ridge resorption is multifactorial, such as anatomic, metabolic, dietary etc. Even the most skilled ones also find the task of fabrication of a complete denture cumbersome. The aim of this article is to discuss about the different non surgical techniques to preserve and rehabilitate patients with severely resorbed residual ridge.
