Abstract

Aims and Objectives

To compare the soft tissue change, interdental papilla and crestal bone level in Flap and Flapless implant therapy for immediate loading (IL) implants.

Materials and Methods

The study sample consisted of 8 patients with missing teeth in the both in anterior and posterior region. They were randomly divided into two groups; with flap technique and without flap technique Group. (Group I and Group II). All soft tissue parameters i.e., modified plaque index (mPI), modified bleeding index (mBI), papillary index (PPI), marginal level of soft tissue (ML), width of keratinized mucosa (WKM) and radiographic parameter i.e., Crestal bone level were recorded at baseline, Day 15, Day 30 and Day 60.

Results

There was no statistically significant difference between the groups over time in parameters like mPI, mBI, ML, WKM and crestal bone level. The mean PPI score mesially and distally in group II showed a significant increase from when compared to group I.

Conclusion

The results of this study indicated that flapless implant surgery, demonstrate enhancement of implant esthetics.
