Abstract

A lot has been discussed about esthetics and beauty in orthodontics. A plenty of researches on esthetics in orthodontics focused on how clinicians viewed their Patients, but the idea of an ideal profile and face still remains a topic of discussion in this speciality. The ever changing perception of beauty has led to a paradigm shift. The Changing demographics and cultural attitudes have led researchers to look more seriously at consumer preferences and the public's attitudes which are mostly influenced by the film Actors and models on cover pages of magazines.

A trend towards fuller lips have led to a swing back toward non-extraction treatment. Expansion appliances, molar distalization techniques and surgical procedures have become more popular to obtain more ideal esthetic results.
