Abstract

A 24 years old primigravida with 2 month amenorrhea had consulted a gynecologist for confirmation of pregnancy. After negative trans-vaginal sonography but urinary pregnancy positive, she was advised therapeutic abortion for future pregnancy. On 16th day of abortion she had severe abdominal pain and blood stained discharged from vagina. The gynecologist referred her to a tertiary care hospital without any supportive or emergency treatment because she was in condition of shock at the time of admission. On the way to hospital she succumbed and was declared dead in Emergency department. Medico-legal postmortem was demanded by the on duty doctor and her husband to know the cause of death. Autopsy revealed ruptured tubal pregnancy. Legal, medical and ethical aspects are discussed in this paper.
