It belongs to family Bacillariophyceae of Chromophyta division and gets deposited in the different body parts such as kidney, liver, stomach contents, blood and lungs. Numbers of studies are reported for diatom identification on different water bodies for developing diatomological maps for different locations. Materials and Methods Present study has been attempted on water bodies of Gaya region in Bihar state for identification of presence of different species of diatoms. Results Surirellaeleg-ansEhr was common in RukminiPond. Cymbella was common in Baitarani Pond, Gandhi Pond, Ramsagar Pond. Navicula was common in Ramsagar Pond. Nitzschiali-nearis was commonest in Godavari Pond Conclusion The outcomes of the study can be used as beneficial information by the forensic scientist dealing with drowning deaths happening in water bodies of Gaya region of Bihar.
